Well photo away then! Try to follow what poor directions that the manual has. Also are you positive the rear main is leaking? cause im pretty sure that your clutch would be slipping if it was. Becuase Im not sure on the 460 but on my 351 windsor if the front main is leaking it runs all the way down the back side of the pan and it appears to be the rear main. Does your tranny have an inspection plate on it? Check inside it will have oil every where if it is leaking.

I'm assuming its the rear main....its leaking oil from where the pan meets the tranny. As soon as I have time - hopefully this weekend - I'm gonn get under there, clean everything up, and run it for a while while I'm under there, so I can get a good look.

I just wish there was some magic sealant that could plug it all up

Clutch works fine though....

Cleaning it up is a good idea. I would also wipe down and try to look behind the top of the engine. A valve cover leak, rear intake valley seal leak, or a oil pressure sender leak(if yours is in the rear), will run down the rear of the engine and look just like a rear main seal leak.

If I were you, I'd rent a hoist and engine stand and go ahead and pull the engine where you can get to everything and see what you're doing without sweat and oil getting in your eyes.
On the 460 I don't think you can lift it far enough to drop the pan without first unbolting the oil pump and sump and letting them drop into the pan.

Good Idea Franklin. I am planning to replace the starter this weekend, and I intend to give the 460 a thorough cleaning as well. Which reminds me....

When I repalce the starter, should I check the condition of the flywheel? How do I do this?

Pull the little cover off the bottom of the bellhousing. I am assuming most setups have these, I haven't worked on every combination though.

How do I check the condition of the entire gear? Do I have to manually crank the engine? How do I do this?

Yes, get a ratchet and a socket and put it on the large bolt in the middle of the lower front pulley and turn the engine by hand.
