Need help ID-ing my trans

04 f150 screw 4.6L w/3.73 open rear The transmission code is listed as 'A' on the door pillar. My manual doesn't list a trans. code 'A' for trucks. Does anyone know what a transmission code 'A' means?? Could it be a misprint?

I am changing oil tonight, so I could look for castings on the tranny, if someone could point me in the right direction. FWIW, The axle code is '26' and according to online sites, this is an f250 axle- is that right?? It has the 6 bolt rims and do not believe it to be the heavy-duty model.

I have been looking for a while and am running out of places to look- any help would be appreciated.

well, with the 4.6, you should have either the 4R70 or 4R75.

I have the 4R70 in my '05 4.6 but only have the 3.55 diff.

how many miles on your truck?

Thanks for the info- I have 118k on my truck- It runs like new- Is the 4r70e trans good in regards to towing?

Need help to figure out which transmission is in my truck, 04 F-150.FX4,5.4, 3.73 limited slip. The transmission code on the door pillar is "B" but my book does not list a code B. thanks
