Why the fighting

I owned both the V10 and a PSD both did the job I needed. I like one better sure but that is a personal prefrance nothing more. I see people about to fight over a truck, sure we like our trucks but come on. I see the same fight over Ford and Chevy and I have to wonder why. Does either pay you? Will either give you a truck at cost b/c you are brand loyal? Heck I had a problem once and the MFG could have given a crap, it was their product and I was a loyal supporter and they did not care if I did not like it get out. Well I did and you know what they don't care so I will never be the type of person again to stand up and say this is best. Hey I needed a truck that would pull a 5th wheel I looked all over and bought the one w/ the best price. I really like my truck but am not deluded enough to think Ford likes me. So why the fight?
If you drive a PSD I hope you like it and it does what you need if you have a V10 same goes.
The oppinions I give are based on what I see driving the truck 150 thousand miles per year if you observe something different post it but lets keep the envy talk and bashing home.

Why the fighting

>but lets keep the...bashing home.

Yes!

Folks have passion for their rides. Unfortunantly sometimes that passion comes out in a "militant" way when "defending" their choice.

A healthy, productive, stimulating, thought-provoking discussion is good.

But as you point out, when it turns personal...well...let's just keep those types of posts to ourselves!

Why the fighting

I agree 100%. I always liked this forum because there weren't so many folks beating each other up. But that seems to have changed with so many coming over from the diesel board. I've had diesels, and liked them, and gas motors, and liked them too. To get all worked over an engine is retarded IMHO. It's all just personal preference, but certainly not worth getting worked up over, not to me anyway. Ken

Why the fighting

I agree with the fact that we should not let things get personal, but I like some good natured discussion also. It just boils down to the fact that there are quite a few narcisistic folks out there, and it seems most drive trucks or SUV's, particuarly the diesel. You challenge any part of their being and boom, the fight is on. I don't live vicariously through my truck, and have never felt the need to put a Calvin pissing on anything sticker in the window. Each brand and model within a brand has it's own merits, to each his own. I like gas, feel more confident and comfortable with a gasser, so of course I will defend it's merits. But please, don't challenge people to pulling contests or races, just makes you look like the kid whose "dad could beat up my dad".

I couldn't agree more. My friend owns a 2001 Chevy 2500, it's comparable in almost every way to my truck, same size lift(although mine still sits higher . ) same size tires, his is the V8 though. Each truck has its own merits, his independant front suspension rides a little smoother but mines easier to work on and modify. Anyway, we were on the Elk hunt here in Utah and on the opening day we had a horrible snow storm. Well we both decided we can still go wherever we want. If you can't already see were this story is going, he gets stuck and I have to pull him out. our friend has some great pictures of me pulling him out but won't give them to me for these very reasons. I wouldn't let him live it down for about two days until, you guessed it, I got stuck and he had to pull me out... and yes we have pictures of that too! :-X23 Anyway, we both respect eachother's choices and each truck has its own benefits..

Buy what you love, love what you buy, and if you're happy with your
choice that is ALL that matters IMHO.

.....and now for something completely different:

Hey, TGIF!!!!!! Time to go burn some cycles at Home Depot finding
something large to bring home in the truck, like a xmas tree! :-X12

Enjoy the weekend gang,

Well said. I can respect a quality vehicle or engine for it's merits, even if it is not perfect. That includes gas or diesel. Ford or Chevy (or even Dodge). Even imports on occasion, though pretty seldom with trucks.

Someone mentioned how the v-10 forum has a lot more interesting and intelligent discussions than some boards or areas. Gotta agree - the knee jerk "every thing sux but what I got" discussions are pretty sad.

Some of the GTP and Mustang boards are like that.

I have refrained from commenting for the most part.
I believe that most of the regulars here with a few posts under their belt are respectful, positive thinking, and even enthusiastic when it comes to helping others here.

Keep up the good posts.

I agree with Starratt04. Us power stroke owners are not starting a war, we do however disagree with some of the claims made by you V10 guys that are not true. The personal attacks have come when we challenge any piece of information, especially the notion that a V10 can out tow a PSD. I don't feel that any of the diesel owner's responses have initiated attacks, but often it is in defense of previous statements.

I don't understand the problem, both engines have their merits. Owners of both need to be realistic about these merits and not flip out when someone else has another opinion. And why do we hang out on the V10 board? There's more than enough of you that hang out on the diesel board.

yea where not trying to start fights we just get pissed off when people lie and make up stories. were i live people with big trucks always think thiers is the best. anytime some one says to me how they can out do my truck i just respond and say well lets go hook up the tow rope. they all then make up excues of how they cant or they have to go.
