About 3 weeks ago I ordered a 2008 F250SD Lariat CC/LB loaded to the gills!
I opted to go with the V10 over the deisel for a number of reasons which I won't go into.
The Ford truck site shows the video of the plant in Ky. and says it takes about
5 hrs. to compete the truck from start to finish ... so why does it take a month to get it here??? LOL
Anyway I was wondering if anybody else has a 2007 F250 SD with a V10 and how they like theirs and if there is anything I should watch out for when I get this new truck? I know that is really a general question but thought maybe others may pass on some wisdom from their experiences.
I sure wish there was a site where you could track the progress of your truck en - route to the dealer from the factory ...lol
Ford is a just-in-time shop floor manufacturer. Ford needs a lead time window to plan supplier orders for raw materials that will make up your vehicle. Parts runs for particular models are also made in batches sometimes to meet manufacturing floor needs and service parts needs. Parts are delivered to the plant just a few hours before being needed to put on your truck. In addtion, your truck may sit on a lot waiting for shipment to the dealer for a short time, or travel by rail.
Maybe someone who works at Ford could chime in on this one.
Champ has hit the nail on the head for the most part. You also need to understand the v-10 is lower volume production and it goes primarily into fleet and chassis cabs. Kirk you may also want to post on the v-10 forum for v-10 specific questions. You'll probably find out everything you want to know. Enjoy the new truck.
Welcome to FTE! Lots of good info here and some very helpful people.
As for your 2008 V10, it takes a while, about 7500 miles, to reach its peak performance. Once it does, hold on.....these guys are bad! I used to own an 04 V10.
Go down to the V10 forum and you will find lots of info.
