Noticed my stock tie rod has about a 1 inch arch in it with the center higher than the ends. Is this correct? Thought it should be straight?? Thanks Bing
Should have started out straight but since I am the same age as my truck I am kinda bent to, LOL. As long as the toein-out works it shouldn't matter...
Would suggest checking out where and how much it would cost to replace before attempting to straighten it. That way you don't put yourself out of action if it goes south on ya and if it does how much it is going to hurt $$ to get it corrected.
I used my HF hydraulic press to straighten mine. Its a 12 ton so it was easy work for it. Since then, I've changed steering components so I am going with a heavier duty one and not using it after all.
Are you talking about the drag link? The rod that goes across from left side to right? Once they bend they are likely to repeat. A common trick is to have a piece of angle iron welded to it along its length after straightening, but it needs to be a good clean stitch weld.
