Be nice guys- I'm 'fixing' a 79 F250 4x4 that's been poorly 'cusomized' for lack of a better term... she's got a 460 (VIN shows it was built w/ a 400- probably not important), and currently has a butchered PS pump bracket that was poorly modiflied to clear the PS box. I've been to the boneyards 3x to find a different (the correct one) PS bracket that will allow the PS pump to clear the steering box (which on this truck is WAY out on the very end of the top side of the frame rail). One of two things is my problem.. either the steering box has been moved out to where it does not truly belong, or the PS bracket I seek is so rare in this truck that my wrecking yards simply don't have it.. any ideas? As always, thanks for your insight..
Hey Broken40- are they unusual? Maybe a 78/79 250 4X PS pump bracket is a one-off thing? Either that, or my steering box has been moved forward (unlikely), or my PS pump has the wrong pulley (mine is 5 1/2" diameter). Not sure without another truck to compare it to.. Would you be interested in selling one of your brackets-- please PM me if you'd like- thanks!
I don't think there is a bracket that wouldn't need modified to mount on that side of the motor. You could find a ac set up bracket for it then you can run the G.M. pump.
hey broken 40, do you have an ac / ps bracket setup for cheap money? my truck is similar 77 f350 formally 400 but now has a 460 car motor. i live in the south where at 10 am its over 90 degrees and want ac. it will be over 100 again today.
