ac problems

new to the board as of today. here we go. 03 f-150 4.2L.
since the begining of the summer my ac has slowly gotten warmer. still blows cool air but nothing like before. anyway, went and rented the gauges and here are the numbers.
at idle low side is a steady 33 psi-high side is a steady 235psi
at 1500 rpms is a problem- low side jumps between 25-45 psi consistantly
high side jumps between 200-235 psi consistantly.
both reading taken at 98 degrees. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, jeremy.

Sounds like you're low on refrigerant.
Look at the line connections for signs of oily dirt, that's where your leak will be. Your system will have UV dye in it. Get a UV light (blacklight) and shine it around on the whole system. You'll see the leak.
You could just top it off, but don't have any way of knowing when you have the correct charge. Leaks only get bigger too.
You can rent the tools to do the job yourself. You;ve got the gauges. You'll need a vacuum pump and a can tap.
Have a shop recover the remaining refrigerant, fix the leak, pull a good vacuum on the system for about 30 minutes, and charge the specified weight into the system through the Low side.

update! took the truck in to have them find the leak, told me the high side schrader valve is leaking? where is this located? also said my compressor is weak. truck only has 74,000 miles. does this sound correct. again any help would be appreciated, jeremy.

The high side valve is on the line between the compressor and the condenser. If it's leaking, you replace the line. They all leak just a little bit, the cap is actually the primary seal. Make sure the rubber seal in the cap is in good shape.
The compressor "could" be weak. What led them to that conclusion?
You can't judge a compressor unless the system is fully charged. That is, unless the high side gauge is fluttering, which is a sign of a bad reed valve.

I'd like to see 245-255 on the high side at 98 degrees and 1500 RPM. Maybe a little more if the humidity is high. It shouldn't be cycling either.
I'll speculate that your charge is low, but you also have a weak fan clutch keeping the pressures artificially high.
Mist the condenser with water from a garden hose. If the High side drops like a rock, the clutch fan is weak.

You have excellent pressure differential across the compressor. Unless you see the high side gauge flutter like Jimmy mentioned, there's nothing to indicate a compressor fault.
