Turn signal switch

I put one of those cancel cam repair kits in my '77 F250. It wasn't exactly the same as what was in there and I modified it to make it work... bad idea. It cancels now but is crappy and unreliable. Anyway, Im going to buy a whole new switch from autozone. They specify a different switch for an automatic than a manual. Only the automatic switch is available. What is the difference? I've got a 4speed.

The difference is the NSS switch wiring.

On the AT the switch is on the column.
On the floor shift ST the switch is on the transmission.

Actually the 77 automatic with cruise control is the rarest one and the last known one in North America for sale ......was bought last year.

Check to see if Dennis Carpenter has it. They seam to have the hard to find if LMC does not have it. It sounds like you got the wrong repair kit. Most all fit with out any modifications.

Installing the incorrect cancel cam kit was an effort to spend $8 instead of $70, but it was just a waste of $ and time. I picked up the automatic trans turn signal switch from autozone to see if it was useable. Its made by Wells and I have never had a problem with their stuff. I just put it in. It had one extra wire (light blue with red stripe) and socket for what I assume is PRND21 illumination. The pigtail came out at 7:00 instead of 11:00, but It works fine. Its nice knowing that all of my turn signals are working now, even though I'm the only person in Tennessee that uses them :-)
