i have 77 f-250 highboy. i have the stock dana 44 front. i would like to swap it for a dana 60. which years and makes of trucks make the easiest swap? i am currently running the hydro assist steering and would like to keep it. thanks
78-79 will be a bolt in. you'll need to rig up something to connect the ram to the axle, wouldnt be hard. my mount is welded directly to the axle tube and i think they used the rod from the 44. the rod that connects the two hubs.
chevies and dodges have the differential on the wrong side.
The desireable units are late 70's 35 spline open knuckle 60's Dont get to anxious and buy an early closed knuckle coarse spline unit. Those are really no better than the 44 that you have now.
Are you planning on really wheeling the truck hard? Are you running really big tires? Why the desire for a 60? Maybe you just need a good set of shafts???? Chro-mo maybe??????
im doin alot of bogging and truck pulls. right now i have 38's and someday will upgrade to larger ones. i have access to a few junk yards so if i find one im defiantely goin to put it in
