I checked in the Articles/Specs place but couldn't find the answer to my question. I normally use www.autotrader.com to look up specs of vehicles and to research common problems and recalls with them throughout the years however for some reason all the 1987-1996 F150s they have listed are all packing the 4.9L I6. Now I know that this engine is putting 145hp 265lbs/tq however they have nothing on the 5.0 V8 in there.
Just wondering here, does the 5.0 V8 in the F150 share the same power as the 5.0 in the mustang of that era. Looking over my friends 1991 Mustang GT with the 5.0 HO, his engine looks nothing like the 5.0 I saw in the truck I looked over tonight. Does it still have the same 225hp @ 310lbs tq?
Which engine puts out 225hp @310ftlbs of torque? Not the 5.0 in the F150's, here's a link to where I posted scans of the Ford Pickups and Chassis catalog from 1995, I've linked directly the page with engine specs (see the bottom left corner of the picture). If you click on the image it will show in high resolution and you should be able to read it (as long as your eyesight is half decent). Feel free to browse the rest of my photos too, there's lots of interesting stuff in those catalogs.
Skandocious thanks for taking the time and posting pics from your Chassis book. Re the trailer towing weight of 10,000lbs it listed for my F350 4x4 Crew -- as usual Ford built in a good safety margin. I have towed loads greater than 14,000lbs scale trailer weight several times farther than 500 miles (22,500lbs gross). Ya' gotta love our Ford Haulers
No problem buddy. Many of the answers that people ask about their trucks like "what is my tow capacity" and "how much power does my truck put out" are answered in that book. They gave it to the PO when he bought the truck from Ford in 95 and he kept all documentation since he bought it. Awesome
