Engine Swap

I have an 85 F-150 2wheel drive with a 351 Windsor. I am wanting to replace this engine with a 302 from an 88 Cougar. Can anyone tell me if this is feasible or what the problems are. The 302 has a c4 which i ammnot using . The truck now has a 5 speed stick. I have been told the oil pan might be a problem but don't know. Help!!!!

Thanks for ythe help. I have been told that the oil pans are not interchangeble between a 302 and windsor. Is this true and if not does anybody know if the 302 oil pan will clear the crossover. I am trying to get this settled before I purchase the 302.

the oil pans should be interchangable. the only difference between a 302 and 351 Windsor (on the bottom end) is the stroke. If anything, the windsor pan will clear better. the 302 pan might clear, but since it was in a car, its probably in a different shape, and will not clear your crossmember.

if anything, look at both pans and their bolt patterns so you know for sure

yeah the pans are different shape, but they should have the same bolt pattern where they mate to the block, so they are interchangeable

Are you sure? The 351 uses a 3" main journal diameter, while the 302 is a good bit smaller than that. I know the front flanges are the same because timing covers interchange, but is the rear flange the same?
