Howdy: I am in the process of redoing a 48 Ford F-1. Once all the sheetmetal was removed from chassis I noticed tow broken leaf springs. Does anyone know what years were interchangeable for replacement springs?
JC Whitney has nice, made in the USA front springs for these for as low as $89 with the right coupon, and $10 shipping. They even come with new bushings installed.
You really don't want to mix used springs, remember this is a major part of your steering/suspension system.
Mismatched springs can cause your vehicle to do wierd and unusual things including coming in sudden and violent contact with inmovable objects.

By the way, where do you live?
Durand Wisconsin. Its hard to find good used parts in this part of the country as they roads are covered in salt during the winter.
1948/52 F1 (21C-5310-D 8 leaf) is the same. 1953 and later is different. All Ford springs from this era have part numbers (not ID numbers) stamped on the main leaf.
I had 5 of the 10 springs in the rear of my one truck fall off when I took the ubolt off.
I know this sounds "ghetto" but I think I would just remove the same springs that were borken on the other side and be done with it. Unlesss you are towing or hauling with the old girl you would probably not notice.
Just wanted to follow up on this thread. Here are the links on the Leaf Springs. Appears that "Steelcraft" is the supplier.
The Steelcraft website looks pretty legit. At $80 smackaroos per, I can't resist. The Catalogs are getting $400+ a set. It would be interesting to understand why ? (other than because they can)

... because they're "imported"?! Like, from China....or India... or wherever they can shave some labor costs
I just read what the web site says. They strongly state that they make their springs in the U.S. and they spend a lot of web space discussing the alloys and processes they use.
I don't know them from Adam, but I thought I'd pass the info along.

Sorry I wasn't clear; I was referring to non-Steelcraft springs other internet vendors are selling for more money. I have the JCWhitney/Steelcraft springs myself, they are Made in USA.
