I wanted to put mine on the ceiling between the visors but the bracket that they supplied with mine - no way would it reach the frame of the ceiling and still allow the radio to hang level.
No room below in the center because I have a six speed.
So I put it on the dashboard redneck style.
Thank ya! I do believe thats where I will mount mine just move my brake box over. I think I am just gonna mount some dual fiber glass Antennas on the tool box. I like the redneck style Kwik but I see enough of that on the superduties at work.
No kris can't ductape it then I would be turning into Gene :-p
I'm on a plain cell phone connection now, and can't look at or post pics and graphics to show how I did mine 8 years ago, but I did use some duct tape which has held up just fine.
I have mine mounted in the drivers lower door pocket. It was a b to run the cable through the cable chase in the door, but I like it there. I have a "shower cap" from a smoke detector to protect it when I have the door open for extended periods of time. I don't have room in front of the handshaker, or by the seat, but I can hear it great in the pocket. I will see if I can get a pic of it.
Mine looks just like F350-6's(between the sunvisors). I first went redneck style on the dash and secured Gene style, for 6 mos. while in LA and working. When I got home I had figured out alot of things that needed to be in different places after spending a minimum of 18 hrs per day in my truck.
I have mine CB mounted under the cubby hole also. My brake controller is mounted to another CB mounting bracket turned upside down and under the CB. The screws for the brackets are long enough for this. I had the camper place just use velcro for a temp mount. This lasted for a week before the heat of summer softened the adhesive and my controller ended up in the floor.
What is the most popular CB out there? I've been eyeballin a Cobra.
I just went through this process and in this thread TJC Transport gave me some advice based on a lot of experience on his part.
Somewhere in the thread he told me exactly what he would buy and I did just that and it's a great system.

Chris, I need to introduce you to modulator. He is a Vet, that lives up toward lake Jordan, he has a small electronics shop out behind his house. He has great prices and can Peak and Tune(as well as add some other things) your radio before you ever leave. He has a large tower behind his house and montiors channel 23(cb) as well as other Hamm channels.
Connex is a nice unit, so is the Ranger. but then again I've got a little $60 uniden that has been p&t'd as well as someother things and can talk plenty long. Its like injectors, just how much do you want to spend.
This is what I have. http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=...e&product_id=5
Got it for about $85 at RadioShack. I like it because I can just unplug it and put it in the safe when not traveling. The weather channels are nice when the family is living in the TT for a few weeks. The CB tuner dude down at the truck stop let me in on a little secret as well. "Don't waste your money on the Weather Channel Antennas".
No pics at the moment, but I mounted the same CB from a couple of homemade hooks that the radio hangs from on the two cup holder types in the console between my captain chairs. This places the radio in the vertical position and the face is easy to read and the controls are handy. I just didn't want to drill any holes in my dash area and this doesn't obstruct the rear view mirror.
