The start of it all at 37200 miles turn signals quit working. Checked the blinker fluid level and it was ok. lol. My flashers still work however. The next day (yesterday) ac only blows from defroster.Came home and found this site. Found out I had a vacum leak and need to check 4x4 esof also. No 4WD either. Also realized reverse sensors not working.Everthing was working fine 3 days ago. I turned the key to the on position to listen for the vacum pump running. It's not running. Also with key in the on position I switched from 2WD to 4WD. I heard a click at the hubs like they engaged started truck and drove but 4WD was not working.Could this be an electrical problem or vacum or both???
Well, if your windows stop working, I'd say you had a GEM problem. However, you can easy check. Jack the front end up, lock in 4wd, and spin the tires. If the drive shaft turns, the hubs work, but the transfer case isn't. If the wheels spin and the driveshaft doesn't, then your hubs aren't locking. If the hubs aren't locking, try spinning the front axles, they shouldn't move if the transfer case is engaged.
Do you have auto or manual hubs? manual -lock hubs in, go under truck and turn drive shaft by hand, look at both 'u joints" at wheels, does one both or neather turn. I do that on mine any time I put it in 4x4. I drove back home ca from az with one wheel lock in. A vacume hose was pulled off in wheel well,at suport tab,I have auto hubs,
Here's what I tried today. In 2 days my turn signals,reverse sensors,4WD,and AC quit working. AC works but only from defroster. I've checked all my fuses in the passenger compartment fuse panel and in power distribution box under the hood, all fuses ok.
I know 4WD and AC problem is because of vacum. My friend has a 07 F250 PSD.We put my vacum pump on his truck and it didn't work,so I know that my vacum pump is bad? We put his vacum pump on my truck and it did not work on my truck, his pump worked fine on his, so i'm not getting power to vacum pump?Inlet to pump was not connected so it should have ran non stop like it did on his.
Thought the relay for turn signals was bad. Again we put my relays 201 and 202 in his and they worked put his in mine and didn't work. My hazzard flashers work fine.Can't find any blown fuse. Where else can I look?
I not even worried about the rear back up sensors but if anyone has any ideas please help.
You have two different vacuum systems. The hubs are run off the fender mounted pump. The AC should be off the motor.
I'd check the harness in the column, Turn signal, 4wd vac pump, and A/C will only run if they get power from the ON circuit in the ign switch. Hazards will work with the key in any position. Reverse, needs to sense your in reverse to activate.
How did you check the fueses, pull and look at or use a test light, check both sides,top of fuse. You have to maney unrelated problems, only common is electral, possible a unpluged harness. On your freinds truck use a test lite, on top of fuse,see owner guide for location of your bad ciricuits, see how they work, key on & off ,go to your truck,& test that will put you up stream or down stream to where to look, you'll need a wiring scamatic to go mush farther.
On your relays they show coil and normal open& closed contact, use your test lite in socket,check for 12v, ground and 12v to turn on relay, to go down stream use a large light blub in series with 12v if it's goes to ground all it wii do is lite the lite,if lite is dimmer you have continuity,ciruit is probley ok.
Two must have tools, a test light & a continuity tester,it has a batter in it;
Thanx guys gonna try looking at the column and test light fuse and sockets today. Where can I get a new vacum pump? Does anyone know what they run $$$? This site is great glad I found it. I'll keep you posted on what I find.
Problem Solved!!!! Thanks catmacanic I purchased a test light and found the little bugger. The vacum pump is bad and thats what started it all. Put buddies vac pump on my truck AC and 4WD work fine. Hate that my buddy needs a new pump now! LOL
I think the pump went bad and caused the fuse to blow which runs the turn signal and reverse sensor. The next day is when the AC and 4WD went out. The vac system held vacum pressure for a while. That's why everything didn't go at once, and made it seem like several issues.
