The driver side door on my truck makes this knocking sound when you drive down the road, it dosent have to be bumpy either. It also sounds like it's loose and I have had it at the shop numerous times and they told me they cant fix it. Does anyone have any ideas? It is driving me crazy.
My Flareside had that problem....could be the above mentioned...I'm assuming you're talking about the truck that is your name...but I'll throw this out there anyways.....how worn is the doorseal?Mine were pretty bad...bought two new ones and it's fine...Just my .02
Yeah, it is the one in my name. All the bolts and things have been checked. It all started when they had to take the cab off to replace the engine. The doorseals look brand new. The dealership dont know what is causing it. The truck only has 10,000 miles so it cant be wore out. I just dont know.
06 F-350 FX4, I think you may be experiencing a similiar sound to what the drivers door makes on my 05 F250. My truck is a regular cab. What cab do you have?
whoa whoa whoa....10,000 miles and theyve already swapped the engine....oh yea, did you have "The Afterburner"????heh heh.......dealer fault...I'd be demanding a new truck.
We tried for a new truck...didnt happen. All they would do is sell us a new one at cost and will throw in a extended warranty free....how generous
They will only give me auction price for mine and add the difference to the new one.
I bet on the next one I wont put any add on's! Since they dont matter how much cooler it makes the truck look. It's still worth the same price!
such bull*****........I'm a ford man but I wonder why they're always getting sued and dealer's businesses are gojng down the tubes.....since they pulled the cab off it sounds like they tweaked it around and twisted it up when they were either taking it off or putting it on....speaking of sueing...but no one likes to go that route......anyways...I'd say they tweaked it.....only auction price?not even trade in?what the hell dealership is that?I'd be whoopin someone's **** over that...sorry they F'd you like that man....might have to take it to a body shop and have them check everything....cab or not...sumthin got tweeked to hell.Later on.....
That's unsat, dealer should fix it after taking the cab off.
Same door knocking on my '79 Scab the striker clasp inside the door is worn, not adjustable. But that's not your problem obviously, that dam dealer should fix or replace yours after skrewing it up.
Which dealer in Texas? My son {F250 6.0} lives there and will tell him to avoid it
Pilot Point. It's got new owners now and my truck is there trying to get fixed again.
They said that they have to go by auction price, that is the rules. Why hell yeah they want it for auction price, then they will put it out front on their lot and jack the price up about 8,000. It's just not right!
*Some* states have lemon laws whereby the dealer is given a fixed number of tries to repair a problem, and if they fail, they exchange the vehicle for another... or other remuneration. Does your state 06F350?
That said, have they pulled the inner door panel and looked around? Or is the sound coming from outside the cab? WHen they removed the cab, they might have failed to install all the bushings/mounts or lost parts from them, or left bolts out or loose. Obviously they did something, so it is in their hands to fix it. At no cost, with a rental car or reimbursement for the inconvenience.
They have no problem taking your money, but have a problem doing the work seems to be a common situation. That's why I do all my own. Guess I have to go buy a garage with a lift now.... Hmmm..

RexB: My old truck has the torkx bolt with a plastic wrapped around it on the door jamb, and the door latch grabs onto the bolt when closed. The plastic got old and brittle and fell apart. I cut a strip of milk carton plastic, and wrapped it around the bolt, and then used reinforced 3M tape to hold the new 'bushing' in place. Got rid of a lot of noise when the door is held closed... Don't remember '79 design, but the '65 Ford cars had the same design. Is yours the latch in the door or the striker plate/bolt on the door jamb? This could take up some of the slack in either case...

Tom, mine is the torx bolt on the pillar, the latch is in the door. I just wrapped two turns of stainless tape around the torxbolt, it works and door is tight again. That's a lot of striking force on the torxbolt so if the s/s tape unwraps, I'll goop it with steelweld.
The wif was worried about falling out the door. "Naw, don' worry it's Ok honey..."
You might've saved me collecting on her insurance.
