My truck has front coil springs...today I saw another F-350 crew, I would guess 1995 or so, it had leaf springs in the front. What is the difference in performance and which is better?
The 2wd trucks came with coils, the F250 and F350 4x4's came with leaf springs in anticipation of carrying a plow or hauling a big trailer. Leaves are stronger and can carry more weight - you don't see coils in the rear of a pickup, do you?

the IFS is kinda poor however with a heavy engine, and is hard to align.
It is hard to keep aligned, but I don't know what you mean by "poor". There are millions of trucks with diesels and a TTB suspension and they seem to be holding up fine.
The TTB in my F-150 doesn't stay aligned either, and it's not the weight of the I-6 that's doing it. It's an inherent design problem. It's got nothing to do with the weight of the engine.
I here this alignment issue all the time, but I have only had my truck at the shop for it once when I put new tires on. They adjusted the toe a little bit. 90k miles later and is still in alignment.
