Well I found my wheel balance problem. I have the wrong type of wheels on the rear. The truck is a f350 1984 with a dana 70. The wheels on there use the swivel type lug nut but dont have those lug nuts curently. Right now the wheels have a GM ring with cone lug nuts. Left hand thread studs on drivers side. How Im understanding it is I need to find the older style rims or maybe gm rims that center themselves with the hub. This is why the PO couldnt get the vibration out of this truck and why I got a good deal. I was thinking of shimming the wheels somehow so there centered on the hub and use the gm ring until I get the right rims. Any additional info would be great so I get this straightened out the first time.
i have an 81 dually - onthe front, from the frame down is 86 twin i-beam. i use what is refered to as late model wheels. they use the hub for centering themselfs. the eight lugnut holes don't have any taper on them, and the lugnuts have flat bottoms. on the rear is the dana 70 and it has whats called early model wheels. not hub centered, lugnut holes are tappered and so is the lugs.i don't know if this answers any question for ya but both of these styles of wheels are available
i haven't bought a new wheel in many years. if i had to pay money for a wheel i would probably look to salvage yards or used tire & wheel dealers. i've got all my tires & wheels from my brother-in-law, a truck salvage man, if ya gonna build trucks find yer self a brother-in-law truck salvage man.
this is where we get out of the area of my experience, there is no dought someone in here who can & will answer your question. best-o-luck, i know what it's like to get a used truck thats been messed with by some guy with a 6th grade education but still feels he knows more than the hundreds of PHD's at ford motor co.
