Ford was the last US automaker to sign up with the UAW. This occured in 1941. GM was first, the rest just followed along. That was a good thing, too.

The UAW was the best thing to happen to the auto biz back then. Before the UAW, workers were treated worse than sheep, and were forced to work long hours, even taking a bathroom break could get them fired. Vacations were slim and none. Wages were at poverty level at best. Miss a day = "You're fired!" The turn over, even during the Depression was terrific. Workers had no senority. Only snitches, and there were many, were the only ones to make out...until they were found out. Then they were lucky to escape with their lives. Some didn't.

Assembling automobiles is one of the worst repetitive jobs, but it was better after the UAW took control.

All right automotive trivia it is then....

What company made the first "pickup"

(see above question) And what was the Model name/number

In what year did Ford first offer 4X4 as a factory option?

What engine is used in miltary Humvees (not the civilian wanna be's)

In the 70s and 80s the US military experimented with modifying civilian vehicles to fill military roles. What was this program known as?

What is the name for the military version of the Dodge Power Wagon?

What was the last year that the Jeep Wrangler was offered with the 4.0 engine.

What company made the first "pickup" First factory built pickup: Dodge 3/4 ton Express 1924 (actually built by the Graham Bros), few were sold. Ford offered Model T "Runabout" pickups in 1925. Ford one ton trucks were first offered in 1915, Ford called them TT's.

What engine is used in miltary Humvees (not the civilian wanna be's) Originally (Detroit?) V8 diesels when the company was owned by AM General. AM General was not GM.

What is the name for the military version of the Dodge Power Wagon? Army Truck. 4X4 Power Wagons were built thru 1968

The "Waterless" Knox (Waterless = it was an electric) and The International "High Wheeler" (basically a buckboard with an engine - "no horse required" said the ads), are credited as the first trucks.

I don't know for sure what you are going for here but Henery Ford originated the term "pickup" referring to what Ford called the pickup body on one of his early cars, had to be the model A or T.
