CEL + brakes... connection?

CEL + brakes... connection?

Like the title says... the CEL on our 95 xlt 2wd would come on randomly and just chill on with no problems what so ever... just come on and stay on. we recently (last week) had new rotors, new pads, and rebuilt calipers installed @ cooks brakes in portland, and eversince then no CEL light what so ever. not even on a trip up and back to tacoma, doing 60-75 all the way. so... what i'm asking is there sensors on the van that will set off the CEL when the pads are almost gone?

What codes? IF you have a CEL, then the computer has detected a problem wit the engine. We need codes. Most parts stores can pull them or if you have an OBD-I EEC-IV, you can jumper the diagnostic connecter and flash the codes through the CEL.

There is a sensor for low brake fluid in the resevoir. If your fluid went below that level it would trip a light, but I thought the brake light would have come on.

actualy that did happen. it must be something else. i will pull the codes when i can and eventualy will post them on here. i wish the cel would atleast flash a code when something "goes wrong"... would make stuff much more easy.

there is a separate brake system computer and monitoring system for the RABS. MC and proportioning/combination valve with 2 dash lights, at least on later Aeros.
