Desktop or Laptop?

When I have a desktop, I want a laptop.

When I have a laptop, I sometimes want a desktop again.

I have been buying a new computer every 2 years or so. I get tired of a desktop and get a laptop and vicey-versey...

I keep sticking with Gateways, though. Alot of folks bash them, but I've never had a problem, just as I've had trouble-free Fords all these years.

What do ya'll have (desktop or laptop) and what brand?

Toshiba Satellite. Had it for about a year.

Love the portability, and the wirelessness.

I have a homebuilt desktop and a toshiba satellite. I mainly use the laptop. I can actually sit outside and enjoy nature while on the laptop.

Same here...

I finally upgraded from dial-up to cable and this router that I've got hooked up is amazing. Wireless internet anywhere that I please around the house...

Gotta love it!

Never had a laptop. I bought a desktop Compaq from a friend of mine for $100, and have upgraded components along the road as needed. Never had any problems with it (except that wireless internet drives me crazy!)

My dad always built his computers. That's one thing that he always amazed me with...

Not even a 6th grade education and he can build one heck of an electronic monster from scratch. I guess it's all in what you know and like...

Last time I had dial up I lived at home with my mom. We've had cable for about 8 years now. But this wireless setup is the cats ***. I don't even need an internet connection, I have about 6 networks to choose from in my neighbourhood. I keep it for the security though.

Oh yeah, this laptop is probably 10 times faster than our old desktop. That one is about 8 years old, we gave it to my sister in law.

I wonder how many neighbors are sucking on my network... Makes me curious.

I guess I need to secure it.

I've only had it for a couple of months now and I'm loving every minute of it.

I may have a few neighbors sucking on mine. It is not secured. I look at it this way. If they want to get on bad enough they will. Making it a challenge will make it a game for those with malicious intent.

all my computers are laptops, if i want it to be a desk top, then i will just hook a monitor and keyborad to it. laptops are the way to go, portabiltity equals comfort, i lay on the sofa or in bed with it, we take it on trips, everything, plus its small and doesn't take up space (which is important in a small apartment)

i have a dell, but i think i got a lemon because everyone else loves them and has no problems and mine has had all kinds of problems.

i have a compaq, an older one, it trucks along, it has bootleg copies of everything, but never had a problem with it.

also have an old gateway that someone gave to me, no idea what to do with it, i think when i get time, i will explore things on how computers work on it.

i bought this weekend a brand new toshiba satellite. so far so good, love the new screens on these things, the cooling vents are huge compared to my dell, and it is lighter also.

i did have a sony viao laptop once years ago, it worked good but lightening put an end to it.

I'll have to agree with you there...

Once they hack into your secure connection, there ain't no telling what they'll want to make a challenge of hacking into next...

I have a Toshiba laptop. I love it, but Toshiba puts slow HDs in their laptops. I'm replacing it soon with a faster drive. Get something that supports a docking station (not the generic USB docking stations but one that actually plugs into a docking port on the laptop).... best of both worlds. When I have mine on the desk it supports 3 monitors (yes, I do that many things at once!)....

I have 11 unsecured networks in my neighborhood. I also have a iphone, where ever I go, I check for wifi spots. Then, when I am in the area they automatically update and download my mail.

Stayin' busy... That's the way to do it!

I can't stop thinking of the headache I'd have if I tried that...
