just installed dp tuner and while getting on it in 80 econo setting i heard different noise from the turbo than the usual reslease of air.
oh by the way....first impression of the dp is that I am gonna like it.....a lot. Didnt have much time to play around with it though, just a few quick runs.
Ok....Im pretty sure thats what it was then.....Is it common to experience surge in the 80 econo setting during hard acceleration with stock turbo, afe intake, 4" exhaust
is... I fixed my problems by installing the Wicked Wheel. Took a couple hours to put in, but it sounds very cool and not a hint of surge. Out of curiosity, how much boost are you seeing? I was getting up to around 28psi with the stock wheel, but it surged so bad up there it wasn't worth it. I'm seeing a max of ~25 now, which is right around the max you want to see for the stock turbo.
izzy....I saw about 25-26 psi when this occurred. When you install the wicked wheel do you not have to get the rotating assembly of the turbo rebalanced?
That's where I heard it with my stock wheel as well. I have heard of folks doing that, but the wheel comes balanced, and there have been no issues that I'm aware of by just swapping wheels. Anyone else have any inputs here??
It's suggested that you get it rebalanced when you swap wheels, however there have been countless number of individuals who have installed a WW without rebalancing it and have no problems. If it were me, I would not worry about having it balanced.
