about a week or so ago i noticed a change in the way my truck runs for the better. this happened about 4-5 months ago and what happened was one of the lines that come from the air pump after the check valve had come off i put it back on and it ran like it did before. well it started making the same noise again and i checked everything and they are all good. well before when idling in gear i could hear what sounded like all the lifters as the engine was turning over not just one but all of them, like my old i6 did in my f150 on start up. onw it is not doing that. and it has a weird air rushing sound now until it gets warmed up and then it turns off like someone flipped a switch. my question is this normal or something i should worry about or just leave it alone. i have not done anything to it to make it all the sudden change except i used seafoam in it. it is by the way an 89 351
Seafoam wont hurt it, unless it was used inproperly i suppose.
As for the whoooshing sound, that could be a vacume line.
Check your fan clutch, make sure the fan still spins freely. Mine sounded really strange when it froze up.
The lifter ticking sound on the fords is actually injectors fireing, I am told.
I thought i was haveing lifter problems, and mechanic (trusted) told me that it sounded normal. It was just injectors clicking.
Dont rule lifters out. =) but thats what i know. Maybe you have cloged injector. :P
