changing fuel injector

I am getting a misfire code on cylinder 4 in my 1998 expedition 4.6

This is not a COP system.

I have the New York phone book thick factory manual...and it gives you good instructions about releasing fuel pressure... taking off rails, etc.

but it doesn't say anything on how to take the injector out and put a new one back in....

It just says replace injector..

anybody know how?

When you get the fuel rail off you should be able to twist and pull a little, rock it, the injector should come right out

thanks... i have to order the two rubber bushings or grommets...as well...

it says to cost the bushings with engine oil ...installatiion is reverse.

this helps me a lot....

Oh, by the way...any chance that this problem is a coil pack rather than an injector issue?

Plug has been changed. Wires are original. The problem cropped up after I ran out of gas (first time in nearly 30 years) I may do the fuel filter as well...it's about due.

Don't see the dreaded hose leak over cylinder 4.

The truck seems to start fine and run good for the first 10 minutes... then the engine bogs down...so I got the code read at auto whatever

I am currently running bg44k through the half tank of gas in the truck.

I am more likely to replace the coil pack next. I think it's 40 dollars or so..
just a few screws and its off...also easy access

Before you replace that injector, try putting finger on it while running to verify that it is "clicking" the same as the others and you might try swapping the plug with another one and see if the error moves with the plug!

Spark plugs have been known to go bad out-of-the-box!
