i've got my rear suspension tacked up, and about ready to remove axle and weld up all the brackets and paint.
planning on installing fuel tank behind axle and start building a dumpbed system for my flatbed next.
the axle is a sterling 10.25 i converted to dually disc brakes and narrowed about 6" each side.
can you see the linked pic? i've had issues linking from this site before.
i actually plan on it looking like i just did a mild restoration, and it could have came from the factory. (from about 50 ft.) but when you get close and look under it you'll notice the mods.
also alittle longer wheelbase and a dually (which i don't think any F-3's ever were)
cool truck man, keep the airbags for sure, as for the pto can you use it to power am under bed winch.
for your dump bed you can use your air tank from your bags to run an air to hydraulic cylinder. My little mazda dump currently has a manual hydraulic and works great, but would be nice not to have to reach under the truck and jack the damn thing up
Just checked out the pix on 4x4.
I think things will look natural from closer than 50 ft.
I would have kept the Flatmotor, however th 300 I6 will make it mean also.
Keep us posted and more pix's
Looking good. As a matter of fact they did offer DRW F-3's but they would be extremely rare and may be limited to Canadian production. I got a diagram with all the parts numbers.
May I ask how you fabbed the crossmember for the np435? I measured my 48 F1, from rear bell face(400 cid with bell attached) to the center of the crossmember and it matches my '76 f250 4x4 np435, and also matches my 86 f250 2wd t19 where the "adapter housing" bolts to the original. Problem is, the crossmember needs a flat spot for it. Did you flatten your out, or did ya just make one? Great project, btw.
51dueller; thanks for the info........ do you know if it had dually front wheels (or ran the single wheel design and hubs on the front (i've seen this setup on older trucks and have wondered if its factory)
havi; my tranny crossmember is the same one 51 dueller posted a pic of, here's a differnet view (hopefully this week (read month) i may have it mocked up in the frame checking height)
also the PTO's i have ended up not fitting my tranny, so i'm not 100% on how i'm going to power dumpbed (kind of depends on what i find to use on my budget)
i don't know why i keep linking pics from that site.
anyway, here's the ones that are showing red x's
and here's another update, i got some temp wheels on it and rolled it out of the garage......looks alittle odd because i have it setup for dually whees, but have regular wheels in this pic
