I've been considering the kit myself. I'm not sure how building a kit is much cheaper than LMC's kit for $40 (shipping included), after you factor in the relays, wiring and the time involved in splicing, when theirs is all plug N play (sorry the computer tech in me comes out sometimes, LOL).

I was thinking mostly about my truck... it's a bit more involved cause of the day-time-running lights... but I still hope to have less than 30 bucks into it( thats canadian which =45 us...lol), although I think I'll have to install a diode... and I have no idea what there worth
You're probably right, I think the wiring for the daytime running lights is more complicated. I'd have to go over the wiring for them (if they're in my manual). You may have to fabricate the wiring.
I'm guessing that the key to wiring it up is going to be geting switching voltage to the relays without the daytime running light interfering... although I heard that the daytime running light circuit lights the hi-beam and not the low beam which might make it a bit easier... I'm going to have to look at the wiring diagram a little to fugure it out...
There was a Tech article(DIY) on this subject for anyone interested...

I also found a bunch of related articles in the electrical/wiring forum
FYI - I too have been looking at the LMC heavy duty harness as an upgrade. I just installed Silverstar Ultra bulbs and was disappointed at how bright they were. When I put them in my old Astro van they were awesome. Then I read somewhere here that the relay harness allows them to realize their full power potential. I called LMC and they said that the harness WILL work with daytime running lights. I've just placed my order.
Will post some pics of the install when they get here.
hey tod thats cool... I thought they weren't compatible with the day time running light on our canadian trucks. you'll have to let us... or atleast me.. know how it worked out for ya...hopefully before christmas as I'm going to do a bunch of work on my truck over the hollidays and that mod was on the to do list... and a big hello fron New West...
BC...for sure..let us know how it works. What about the Hi-beam flash?
I think that would be of more use to me than daytime runners. I often use that feature to signal someone into the lane..etc. I'm gonna check their site to see if it's indicated.

The highbeam flash should work fine, since it's plugging into the harness just before the headlight connection. So anytime the highbeam would normally come on, it energizes the relay.
Their site does not say. But PC I suspect that you are right.
...and for 30 bucks....less than the price of the "brighter" bulbs.'
I think I'll have to check it out....
