Question 4x4 Automatic Locking Hubs: HOW TO?

well i know it sounds stupid.. but i dont know a fool proof plan to lock my hubs every time. i go muddin and i will put it in nuetral.. let out the clutch, and put it in 4hi. then i put it in reverse. roll back about 6 feet and then put it in 1st... i do it all on flat pavement .. thats what a friend told me to do.. in 4 lo i just go from neutral to 1st without rolling.. they lock just fine... but me hi wont lock... its really frustrating.. i dont got cash for manuals cuz i just got some new tires... HELP!!!

The could use a good cleaning, and the t case could use some new fluid, and that might help, but if it doesn't, then it isn't much spent(mostly time), and at least everything is fresh.

I'd want to try playing with it to see what needs to be done, but try stoping, pushing the clutch and brake while in neutral and puting it in 4wd, and it should engage.

Saveing up and putting manual hubs would be the best thing to do.
$60 isn't a whole lot to spend, and is affordable(for a working 4wd).
I'd suggest the Mile Markers. They are just as strong, just cheaper.

You know that any set of locking hubs from an early 80s to preasent ford will work in place of your auto locking hubs. You just have to make shure that you use all of the parts from the older hubs.So head down to the junk yard and go shopping.
