starter trouble

Every couple times my psd won't start. It makes this screech like someone starting a vehicle when its already running. Someone told me it may be the starter solnoid, and i know there are 2 of them so whats the easiest way to test these? Am i better off just replacing the starter?

ewww, thats sounds like a worn starter gear or worse a ground flywheel, pull your cover off your torque converter(4 bolts) and spin the mill by hand and inspect it
