how well do the a-pillar gauge pods fit? i bought one for a car i had about 5 years ago and it did not fit that well. i had to fiber glass and bondo it to make it fit perfect
If you get the full length pillars, they are beautiful. They are not like the old single and dual pods that left an ugly edge. The holes are cut to 2" and the gauges are 2 1/16", so you have a 1/32" inch friction to hold it down.
Check locally first, any speed shop that carries autometer can get them. After that, try driverfx.com, they can find a local dealer that can get you most anything you want.
I think autometer is making them for several companies, however, I am not sure about ISSPRO. They might have their own. However, I do believe they make them for edge and several others.
I have the MSD Dashhawk with A pillar mount. It will monitor trans temp, and coolant temp out of the box using the OBD-II port. If you want Oil pressure and EGT you will have to get the Hawkeye add on that should be coming out later this month. I am a beta tester for them right now on the 6.0L truck, so I have a test version of their EGT probe and add on cable. It is working well for me. I currently run a 6 parameter screen with coolant temp, oil temp, trans temp, exhaust gas temp, intake air temp, and voltage. In the future I hope to get either oil pressure, or fuel pressure working if not both. The oil pressure sensor in the 6.0L is simply an on off switch, so we will have to go with an add on sensor for that. We may be able to get fuel pressure from existing sensors but we haven't got it working yet. Here are a few pictures of my current setup. It allows you to keep your grab handle, and you can adjust the color to match the factory gauges (mine still doesn't quite match, but I haven't had time to mess with it enough yet.
I assume since you are looking for EGT you have a diesel. What year truck do you have? The dashhawk only works on CAN BUS vehicles, so that means 03-up trucks with the 6.0L, or 05-up gas engine trucks.
Beerstalker, sry for the late reply. But that is good info. So, how much would a unit like that cost fully configured like you have it there? Everything ties into the OBD-II but the EGT and oil press, right?
The only reason why I'd perfer gauges to that is how easy something like that could walk. I'd image it would take much.
lonewolftx, how well do the ul's do at night? Do you have picks of while there illuminated? Also, had a change to view your gallery. Good stuff man.
