Hpop ?

O.K. I've learned a lot on here so far but have a long way to go. I was searching old threads and saw where someone posted asking if your HPOP was full? What exactly is the HPOP and where do I fill it and what with?

HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) reservoir. Located in the front of the valley (under the cover) rectangular aluminum with the oil pressure sending unit screwed into the top right (passengers) side and a plug in the top left (drivers) side. To check the oil level, remove the plug and look inside.
The HPOP system is supplied with engine oil from the low pressure engine oil pump which fills the HPOP reservoir. The HPOP then pumps the oil under high pressure (around 3000 psi) through the oil passages in the heads to the injectors. This is a simple explanation, for a detail write up on the operation of the injections system look here: http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/injector.htm and for other things on our trucks check out the home page for Dieselman's site : http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/home.html

yes on what Plowhand said and I will add that the HPOP reservior should not need to be topped off unless you have a drain down issue or have done HPOP,IPR, or injector work as well as oil galley plugs. It continuously refilled by the lube oil system during normal operation. here is a picture to show the reservior and fill plug

My engine runs very good so I guess I don't need to check it right now.

Yes you need to remove the cover to check the HPOP. The location is the same just under the cover. The red truck is my old truck that I sold to get my black truck. I wish I had 2! One for play one for driving. Course then I would have two trucks to mod and I would never be able to fill them up with fuel!
