hey guys
i gotta 97 psd with 105k on it. it seems like someone came and cut its ***** off. bout a week ago i was in some a field and sank in some mud i didnt see and had to get towed out, i had turned it off b4 my buddy came w his truck and when i went to start it it seem like it was on e, and it wouldnt start, then after a while and a few tries it started and ran fin untill today. friday i had to go help out another buddy stuck in the mud, i came home rinsed the underside of the truck off and didnt use it till today. i started it, it ran fine, then when i went to go down my road it was kind of upseting. it seemed a lil weak from a stop, then at anything over 2000 rpms it just made noise n barely excelerated and it doesnt rev to much passed 2500 rps and i have trouble hittin 50mph. a am new to diesels so bare with me, and thanks.
Did you dunk the front of the motor into the mud, if so you may have got the CPS wet ot muddy. It's on the front of the engine about 10 oclock when you looking at it.
Check the EBPV valve to be sure it is open. You can unplug it and that should open it unless it is physically jammed shut. Check pics in my sig for plug location.
It was just a thought. If it is mechaniclly stuck you can open it and tie it back with wire. I haven't done this but hopefully someone else here can help with that one. If you have no luck maybe I can get to mine tomorrow night to let you know which way is closed and which is open.
thanks a bunch i really appreciate it, but is there any other problems that could be causing this, it seems odd that it would get mechanically stuck, but idk im sure no expert, as i said im new to diesels and most of waht know is what iv read off of fte.
It does sound as thought the EBPV is stuck part or all the way. Really no reason getting stuck would cause it but it worth a check. Cuda_Jim has a good picture of what it should look like open. I will try to find it or Jim can post it is he has a chance.
thanks a lot. that was the problem. i opened it and she goes no prob. what a relief. the pic was a lil diferant then the way my truck looks. the lever thing was on top, but also my truck has a bully dog brake that the vacume lines have been off since i bought the truck, and the other day my buddy decided to put them back on. so i guess that was probably what did it. also, since i live in new york, it might be a good idea to have that valve functional, should i just spray it untill its not tuff to muvo or what
I am really glad you found this problem early. I saw a pic that cookie88 posted of a melted turbo and it was caused by the ABPV stuck. Alot of money to fix if it is not found.
