Low Range Light Stays On

Low Range Light Stays On
I am looking at a 96 F150 (187,000 clicks) with the 4.9L fuel injected motor. It has 4WD manual tranny and seems to work fine in high and low, no clutch chatter, a little bit of slippage on the dirver side hub.
I shifted and drove it around the farm yard in 4WD Low and High. No noise(grinding etc). There is a bit of a noise when backing up in 4WD but I was also turning as I was backing up.
The Low Range 4x4 light stays on after taking it out of 4WD and when I put it in 4WD High Range, the Low Range light stayed on but I knew I was in High Range. Any suggestions?
