honestly, you'd have to go and ask at different body shops. a Mako paint job might run you $500-$1000 but it will look like poop and a completely custom job from a good shop would run upwards of $6k-$10k. It depends on what quality you want........if you want factory or better I'd say $5k+ but I'm not in that business it's only my opinion from what I have experienced over the years....

I did work at a body shop in High School (12+ years ago) figure for a decent body shop it will bee about $250 per panel.......door, 1/4 panel, etc...hood maybe $350 for a cheap job. but that's just to match the paint and not fix any flaws or dents and not painting the door jambs...that's where it can get expensive...to change the color of a vehicle you need to remove EVERYTHING which means labor $$$. then on top of that you have the quality of the paint job itself not including the prep work. if there is a lot of orange peel (think ripples in the paint) or fish eyes (spots or small holes where a speck of dirt is) it is a bad job....if it is a mirror then it is a custom job (think Bently quality or better). let me know if you have any more questions.....!

well probably a whole body color change including door jambs and all that, im guessing ford doesnt do repaints? i might consider having me and a buddy redo it all ourselves, i have some friends that have paint booths and stuff so i think thats the cheapest route to go

Talking Detail is the difference $$$$

You pay for the prep and finish. That is what makes a good job. The shop will need to pull all trim and glass to do it right. Lamps, grille, bumpers, door trim, mirrors, handles, running boards, luggage rack, etc. You get the idea....After they shoot the paint comes the finishing, wet sanding. These things make the difference. I'd say around $5,000 or so. If you go three stage on the paint (pearl) add a good bit more. Pricey material.
Alot of shops will give you a high bid because they really don't want the work. I am an insurance adjuster and see it at shops everyday. Instead of saying we don't do full paint jobs they will bid it anyway. Usually this happens at a dealer shop. Their interest and money is with us insurance guys doing wrecks. Let a mom and pop shop that takes pride in their work do it right. Look at the guys work. He should be able to show you some jobs. Also, alot of shops will work with you on labor if you want to detrim the truck yourself. Bring it into the shop more less ready for them to paint. You better know what you are doing before you tackle that though as you could do more harm than good. You can also ask to meet the painter at a shop or two and talk to them personally about the job. They are the ones that can really answer the questions. If you can talk to them privately they might very well be willing to discuss doing the job at night on the side. They will know of a booth they can use or rent and this is cash in their hand and not their employer. Good luck!

well, last year when a bus smashed my rf, rr and r 1/4 panel it was over $7k to fix it. while it was at the body shop, i asked how much it would be to do a full paint. because he had to paint the new parts anyway. well, he told me that it would be an additional $11000. well, i almost fell over and said "oh, ok, nevermind, thanks" and then felt like i wanted to throw up.. all the glass was going to be removed, all limited body moldings removed/replaced (they come in color). roof rack, grill, lights, door handles, running boards, the list goes on. then to do the actual prep and paint was a big job in itself. the roof is huge..

You can save alot of money if you remove alot of the parts yourself--bumpers, lights mirrors etc. a good quality paint job will run 3-5k.
