I'm changing a 85-302 EFI to carburiation. It came out of a Lincoln and is going into a 84-F150,which was carbed to begin with. The distributor from the throttle-bodied EFI(85) measures 1 1/2 in. from the bottom of the gear to the end.The measurement on the new vac. advance. distributor is 1 in. -----Is this 1/2 in. going to make a differance?----Will the new distributor work being shorter?
Can you post a picture of this? Also, is the gear size and tooth count the same? Another member here had a problem with different sized gears in a 5.8L recently and it pretty much destroyed the front of his engine.
I have swapped the different types of distributors around with no problems so far. Also a guy told me as long as you stay with the factory roller cams, you don't need to change the dist gear out either. He ran his own engine rebuilding shop. I ran a older dursapark II dist against a 86 roller cam for 8 years with no problems.

Yes, we know exactly what you are talking about. We can build you a D.U.I. Distributor 1 1/2" longer than normal.
