my fuel pump is howling and i can only push the gas 1\4 inch before it starts to stall will rev to 2000 then falls flat on its face will sometimes free rev up past 200 but dies under load i think it sat and the gas is bad in the back tank front leaks what special tools do i need to get the filter off also would it be a good idea to switch back to carb and take that pump out of the mix its the one on the frame rail sorry for punctuation never been good at english
You are thinking about taking the fuel injection off because the fuel pump is bad? It would be easier to buy a new tank for the front and get it going that way.
well I hit the nail right on the head. It was the valve and resorvoir assy. Now, if you are lucky, it could just be your fuel filter which is in the botton part of that unit. Carefully unscred the 2 mounting bolts so you can unscrew the resorvoir portion of the assy. In that assy, you will find a fuel filter. I almost guarantee yours is plugged solid just like mine was. I had further problems with mine resulting in me chanigng out the whole unit (dealer only my price 125.00). Works great now...watch the thin o-ring that comes with your fuel filter because it's very easy to break it when screeing the bottonm cover back one.
well heres some new info on the beast as i now refer to it. i drove it to work this morning. (taking back roads so i dont hit my 45 mph speed limit) symptoms snafu as usual. parked it went in to work didnt start it until lunch. putt up to the corner store shut it off at store putt almost back to work then i punched it going around a corner just for S&G and it just came to life spun the tire till i let off ran pretty good on both tanks park work then on my way home still runnin better then the same old symptoms start agian switch tank to front runs great i get goin then switch agian to rear 2-3 minutes runs crappy agian.
i dont understand how it can run great on both and crappy on both all in a 15 min period

well i didn't change the filter but i did blow it out just to see what happens it got better but i'm still having problems it has a weird missing problem but if i get it to rev it cleans up . also i was on my way from work runnin great on the rear tank cruise at 45 till the 30 comes up i let off slow down roll on to cruise 30 and boom runs like crap switch to front cleans up till it runs out of gas as it goes to die i switch to rear crap dead wont start well i got some gas in the front tank fires right up and runs like a champ switch to rear runs like a champ roll of the throttle to turn after driving a couple miles starts the crap agian front runs good after could a fuel regulator do this any one got n e ideas
well it runs damn good now on the front tank so i'm gonna pull the strap on the front tank and jb weld the hole and just use the front tank it's a 200 dollar truck i wanna drive it till i can afford a nicer one and keep this beast for parts or a play
alright i pulled the tank this last weekend to fix a leak but i didnt get em all after doing so it ran fine on the back tank for 2 days would get its little missing fits but would clear up after reving until today died agian sputtered trying to run but eventually gave that up as well and just cranked put a lil gas in the front tank started right up switched to rear ran great rest of the way home any ideas is there a way i can wire the pumps to run on 3 switches one for each
