I just bought a 98 b2500 Mazda (Ranger in Disguise). Sorry Ford men is was a fantastic buy.
Really love this truck but it could use just a little more kick in the a**. I put in a K&N filter which seemed to make it rev a little better, but no marked difference in acceleration.
If you can give me any help I would appreciate it.
Just don't tell me I couldda hadda V8.
The Mazda compact is identical to the ranger in too many ways. Even the rear license plate lights have a ford symbol on them. There are plenty of things you can do to put more umph into it. You could put splitfire plugs and wires on, hypertech power module, (if they make one for a 4 banger), etc.
I had a ranger 4 banger with splitfires (it was a gift from my grandfather for graduation, and he had put the plugs in it to check them out). As far as he could tell, and me as well, it was just $20 or more thrown down the drain. after I had to replace them, I just used the recommended autolites and could tell absolutely no difference.
