OK, if all goes well this weekend I'll be picking up a 89 F-250 4x4 extended cab with 5 speed manual. Now I have some almost new low mile 35x12.5 inch tires I would like to run. Right now they are going to waste. So how much lift will it take to fit these tires? Im hoping I can do it with just a 2.5" lift, seeing how thats alot cheaper than a 4". My old neighbor had 35" tires on his early 90's F-350 and I believe it is stock.
They will fit on the rear with out any mods... the front I think you need to space the bumper forward on its brackets to move it out so it will not rub on turns...
I have a 94 2wd that I put 315s under. I had to move the front bumper out 1 1/2 ". They rub on the anti-sway bar at full lock and the fender rubs the outside edgs of the tread under compression. I am looking for a 2" leveling kit to stop the fender rub. I had these same tires on a 86 4wd and the only problem was rubing on the springs at full turn.
I would think a 2.5inch lift should be fine. I have a 1985 F350 stock with 315's. I think that is close to a 35inch tire. The only place mine rubbed is the left side front fender, had to do a little cutting on inside of fender, not noticible at all. I have pictures of mine in my gallery if you want to see.
The F350 does set higher, thats why I thought the 2.5inch lift would be fine. Don't know if they will fit on a stock rim, my rims are 9" wide. If they are 8" wide, I don't think they will. maybe someone will be along later that can tell you for sure.
