All you do is replace the little plastic speedometer gear in the transfer case. They come in different sizes based on the differential gear/tire size combo you run. I'm not sure where to get them, call Ford for more info.
Your Grinning Ford Parts Man has speedometer drive gears. These small, differently colored plastic gears are retained at the end of the flexible speedometer driveshaft, which bolts into the transmission tailshaft housing, or, in your case, the transfer case. These gears are cheap, around $7-$9.00 each, and have parts numbers on them which date back to the '50's.
Tell me which transmission you have, whether or not it has overdrive (if so, percentage of OD), axle ratio, and tire size, and I can get you in the ball park...unless you have an electronically driven speedometer, in which case you get to go to a speedo shop and hand them a lot of money to do it for you. They'll grin at you, too.
