I have a 2001 ford f350 powerstroke 7.3L with 225000 miles on it
In the morning if I dont plug the truck in I have a hard starting issue. It will crank and crank and then start. I have to let it warm up for about 10 to 15 minutes before it will move. But once the truck is warm it runs like a bear
If I plug the truck in it starts up right away and there are no problems
I have replaced the glow plugs, glow plug relay, CPS, and changed the oil. I have replaced the fuel filter and had the local garage put it on a computer which showed no codes and it passed the buzz test for the fuel injectors.
some on also told me it could be the glow plug control module but i dont think it has one thats calf. emission right or am i way off on that
So what the heck could it be i am at wits end any one have any ideas
I would have a compression test done on it. Sounds exactly like what Dan aka KWIKK described in a low compression engine. Hard starting and poor performance, then runs like any other when warmed up. Good luck, hope I am wrong. Another person who had a similar problem had one or two bad injectors and replacing those fixed them up. Did they do a contribution test? I think injectors can pass a buzz test but still not operate correctly. Let us know what you find.
Thanks all I have to do a contribution test on all injectors the question is do i have it done cold or should i warm it up and drive it to the garage to have them do it.
Also I installed a new engine oil temp sensor just in case and it wasnt that either LOL figures.
Also some one told me it might be the high pressure oil pump is weak does this make any sence and if so why would it be a problem and how do you test it
