Our 2004 6.0, 4.10 at 70,000 miles is on it's 2nd or 3rd turbo, #1 & 7 injectors replaced, friction modifier added, valve body? replaced,EBP sensor, EGR cooler & valve, fan clutch assembly, replace rear axle clutch packs and still stalled and almost shut down 5 miles from dealership. Ford FSE has looked at it and said the last turbo must be bad. Of course it won't duplicate at dealership and doesn't leave a signature of codes. Does anyone have any ideas? I have had over 25 Fords and currently have 5, but this is geting old.
Dec 2006 it was hard to start and sputtered at idle. That's when the injectors were replaced. It seems to start and idle ok. Loaded or not it feels as if it is shuuting down and it doesn't matter if you are on a hill or turning into traffic. Dealer has asked for some piece of test equipment to be sent overnight to them from Ford. When the driver returned to the dealer yesterday after being gone about 10 minutes they drove and drove but could not duplicate.
My truck started to do the same, has it been idling rough for some time? then die? Mine would do that and i would start it right up and continue on. I brought it to the dealer right away so that i would not get stuck somewhere. They cleaned the EGR one time, problem still there. Replaced 2 injectors and tested the fuel system, problem still there. They told me the third time that they could not duplicate the problem so i told them to drive it longer or have someone take it home. Well sure enough on the drive home the quality control rep was able to see the problem. The fix action was they called the hotline for help and ended up replacing the ICP sensor and conector. My truck has not idled rough or died on me yet.
what year si the truck? this makes a big differene, th e03's had the icp and connector on top the hpop, heat issues melted stuff, late 03's and up had it in the vc, the connectors fell apart. they have crank and cam sensor issues, but an all out stall sounds more like a wire chaffe, check your 3 ficm connectors for rubbing on the vc bolts, follow the main harnes across the top of the intake as it curves under the turbo and across the oil filter and fuel filter and lays on top the intake runners, they are all bad rub points
Service Mgr, or writer took truck home this past weekend with a computer hooked up to it. He duplicated the problem 2 or 3 times. They have sent the readings to the FSE, who has, I think sent this information up the ladder. As of today we don't know what the problems are. We'll see.......
all that means is the tech doesnt know what he's doing, they had the data recorder hooked up and all that does is moniter the pid data for playback after the faulty event, if the tech cant see the problem in that data then you need another dealer
Probably so, except when the FSE was there with the tech a couple of weeks ago, for about 5 hours he said the turbo they just replaced was bad??? All I want is this truck to perform so my guys will drive it. Can it be fixed is my question?
vgt will not cause a stall, ever, you can command it with wds, from wide open vane to full closed, it will not stall ever, you need to call customer service and raise hell, that is the only way to get things done at this point, throw the book at 'em
Just a thought, Has the dealer checked fuel pressure and volume? Had an 05 F350 at the shop today with a stumble, shutdown issue and it wound up being the fuel pump. Had it fixed in 30 minuits.
you know, for dhas this funny thiing called the diesil diagnostic repair aid, in order to claim a warrenty repair you must have filled it out properly. in order to fill it out you must follow the diagnsotic guidelines in order, if they follow it, the problem will surface, it shouldnt be this hard and you shouldnt be looking for answers here, the truck should have gone to the shop and been diagnosed in less then a day, especially if they were able to duplicate the concern 3 times and get a vehicle data report on it, they are screwing you and you need to call cust service
