I have a Lariat SCAB with the center console and find the front head rests, both driver and passenger side, uncomfortable. It seems like they are facing the wrong way and should be turned around.
I can't remove mine. Has anyone done this? What's the trick?
If I recall, raise the restraint all the way up. On the black, plastic locking ring you should see the lock release on one side and if you look carefully, you should see or feel another button on the other side of the ring. This is what you push in while lifting to remove the restraint.
That is correct. I just had to remove mine to have the rear window tinted and put them in backward by mistake and they would not lock that way.
To remove them I had to use a screwdriver in the slot on the opposite side from the release button. I had to push the cushion down a little to expose the slot, and with the headrest up push the release in the slot and they will come out.
So do they fit in backwards? Do people run them like that?
Stock they look awfully weird.
That's the first thing I did for my wife's truck (now mine) to accomodate her wearing her hair up. When I got the truck back, I flipped the driver's the correct way. Of course they don't lock in place backwards, but most people aren't tall enough to roll with the headrests up anyway.
Backwards, the bottom of the headrest will dig into your upper back (if you sit up straight), that's why I had to switch the driver's side back to normal.
