This is my 1960 Merc clone I have finally gotten the cab almost complete. I have PPG epoxy primer for the exterior and did the interior red with blue pearl flames on the dash and 4 coats of clear. This thing is really starting to come together.
Flames prior to clear coats

Wow! looking good. The ghost flames are an interesting touch on the dash.
How much paint did it take to paint the interior. I'm fixing to start on the interior of my 49 and would like a rough estimate of how much paint I need

It took approx 1/2 gallon of red base paint lots of repainting sure a much more expierenced painter it would only take approx 1/4 with touch ups and for 4 coats of clear I only used 1 pint and lots of sand paper. I will halfto say clear coat is for the birds it is way to touchy for a beginner but I am mostly happy with the final product and just to let you know I have not polished it yet and the flames somewhat show up as a slightly elevated area I like it like that but im sure I will have someone comment about the job in some sarcastic way but I did it myself 1st time with automotive paint and only spent a few hundred dollars apposed to trailer queens and I want to enjoy the truck and if my daughter scuffs it it will add character. The paint I used was PPG's jobline base and clear reasonable price and since it will not be in rain (ie interior) it should last and if not at least I did it once already.
I am no painter either but I figure I should be able to spray the interior without too many problems. I'm not going for the trailer queen paint job either.
There's always someone who will find flaws in your work, you just have to ignore those guys, heck, most of the time those kind of people never have the cajones to try the work themselves and pay people to do it for them.
