Wink Heater hoses??

Getting ready to do the whole cooling system thing:203* TStat, billet housing, coolant filter system from Dieselsite, complete flush, Ranger A/C mod, new hoses and belt---I am looking at, but cannot figure out what type of clamp/fastener holds them to the pipes on the heater core itself-anyone know?? also, are the heater hoses molded or can I just use the correct size hose bought from my local parts store?? Thanks!

They are molded hose's, may be avalible aftermarket. They're supposed to be a "Quick Release" fitting, but it never been vary quick for me.
I allway's started with a spray lube on the fittings themselves. Pushing towards the firewall and wiggling the hoses a bit, you'll feel two plastic tabs that have to be squeezed in then pull the hose off...
Dealer hose's have a replacement set of plastic gaskets/spacers/ May leak without.

Looks like ubreal2 beat me to it. They are molded, and they are a quick release.

There is a specialty tool for these that will make the job a lot easier.
I sent you a PM here w/my e-mail address. Shoot me your e-mail address and I'll send you the shop manual procedure for it. It's helpful on these connectors to have the instructions and diagrams.

Wink

UPDATE: I just returned from my local parts store with my GATES brand MADE IN THE USA belt and hoses:
The heater hoses ARE the molded ones and look PERFECT as far as fit is concerned BUT DO NOT have the special ends to snap onto the pipes on the core itself.....is this right/can I just use these and some old fashioned hose clamps on the core end in place of the special ends?? plus no one here has ever heard or seen the special removal tool that I have a picture of.

Regular old hose clamps should be fine in lieu of the fancy quick release ones. I'd trust them more than the quick release type, myself. I even replaced all the little quick release clamps on the MAP line connections with tiny hose clamps.

Wink

I have to wonder why Ford did this-these fancy quick connect couplers in the first place?? is the cooling system under a higher pressure than a gasser engined truck would be??
