new kid

hey i thought id jus drop a line and say whats up. im 16 and i just bought a 1954 f-250 for $625. il prally be asking alot of questions cuz this is my first car rebuild. im not brand new to engines and metal work but im not pro. its all stock. ive taken the rear steel bumper off. taken the bench seat out. the dash electrical. i took the grille and left fender and wheel well off. and tried to get the engine started. it looks like someone rebuilt the engine. just some minor stuff though.radiator hoses, spark plugs,distributer,ect.. and i replaced the battery lines and got a new 6 volt battery. when i got it the gas tank was in the bed.(the guy i got it from was gunna rebuild it and that how far he got. meaning he cut it out not moved it) I tried to start it but no luck. it almost started but no. so im starting on the body work now. o and i started ripping the bed out.

thnx in advance for all your help guys.

Welcome to FTE, come on in and join the party. We'll steer you in some direction, sometimes right, but we'll always find an answer for any question you have.
Oh, and by the way, start a picture gallery so we can see what you are working on.

Welcome to the board! Congrats on jumping into the old truck world.
Don't be bashful or afraid to ask questions, there's always someone around here with an answer (sometimes even a correct answer) to help you out. It nice to see some young blood join in, we have a few yong men here that are doing some amazing things with their trucks.

Oh, and...pictures, pictures, pictures!!! We like pictures

Another Welcome! Like the others said, "pictures please!" We are a visual group. Tell us what your plans are for your new treasure and we'll see if we can steer you towards an answer that will work for you. Take care of your bed parts and running boards as no one is reproducing those parts yet and replacing them can be costly.

Good Luck!

AMEN TO THAT, looks like i will be either making a whole new bed myself, or shortening the frame a couple of feet

Welcome - Genius of you to get connected. I wish I had a resource like this when I was 16.... but the hot technology at that time was the "4 Track" Tape Player.....

Welcome to the best site you'll ever find for that old truck. It's not too shabby at all, looks complete and it looks like most of that rust is surface-only.

Enjoy!
