I am wanting to change my carb over from a 1bbl to a 2bbl, but I want to keep my cruise control is there any thing that I would have to do to keep the cruise or would I have to make specail modifications to keep it. Also would I have to chang intake manifolds or do they make a 2bbl that will bolt sraight up.
A little more information would be helpful. What engine? Year? etc.
I assume that it's a 6 or 4 banger. If so it probably came with a 1 bbl manifold and yes you'll have to change it or you might luck out and find a 1 to 2 bbl adapter. As far as cruise is concerned there should be some type of linkage that runs from your cruise unit to the carb linkage. If it's not a direct fit it should be able to be adapted fairly easily.
I am sorry about the info it is a 1982 F-100 with a 300 six. would I get better gas mileage with the 2bbl. Also I am having problems with the engine idleing rough but while going down the road it seems to be running well.
Could you also help me figure out what transmission I have in my pickup. on the sticker that is on the door jam it says tran/K also the tran is a 3speed automatic. I know accordin to the axle code it has 3.25 gear ratio.
I can't tell you if you'll get better mileage with the 2bbl or not. Running rough at idle could be fuel/air adjustment, vacuum leak, or possibly carb body screws themselves loose and causing your leak. Grab the carb and see if you can move it. If you can't seem to locate it any other way get a can of WD-40 and spray it around intake, carb etc. if the engines smooths out momentarily you've found your vacuum leak. For me transmissions fall into 2 categories - automatic, or manual and that's all I want to know about juice trannys. Good Luck
