That's aweful. I remember when that happened in Oklahoma in '02 or '03 killing a bunch of people. I live along the Ohio River with alot of Barge traffic and if I am crossing a bridge and a barge is going underneith I get alittle nerves because that's how the bridge in Oklahoma collapsed.
I'm from the rochester area, but have traveled over that bridge many times. Major freeway going into downtown Minneapolis. What a stunning site. Many questions to be answered later.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and families.
This brings back bad memories of the collapse of the Cypress Freeway during the Loma Preita Earthquake in 1989. I use to drive on the Cypress. That collapse killed 42.
My guys are on call for departments that are taxed to help out at the scene. Cell phone networks are taxed so I had to refer all the emergency calls at my clinic to 24 hour clinics elsewhere in the area. Funny how an event like this affects everything for many miles around.
This is turely a tradgedy. My prayers are for those affected. And because of the nature of this I'm going to put my own agenda out the window for the time.
Wife's been watching it on TV all evening. FOX was first on the scene, shortly after it happened.
It's strange how one link leads to another breaking off and falling. I was looking at some of the abutments and was wondering if something had been cut, but I guess steel CAN just snap off. It's usually unlikely it'll snap off square across, though. Perhaps the shot I saw wasn't what I thought I saw.
Pretty sorry thing to happen to anyone. I can't imagine having the highway drop out from under me as I'm merrily cruising along.
I suppose someone will be blamed for the whole thing, which is sad...but that's the way it is. Someone didn't inspect enough. Someone missed a "working" rivet. Someone missed something.
I haven't been watching it, but last I heard, they didn't think it was an act of terror. I certainly hope not, but in this age, anything is possible.
I can already hear the conspiracy theorists... The government did it!! Bush did it!
Well, in any case... I think we should all pray for the families involved. And for those who don't pray... well, wish for the best outcome, when it's all over, anyway.
