tack

i just bought a new 96 f-150 reg cab sb 4x4 lifted but it doesn't ahve a tack i was going to buy a after market tack from canadian tire but i was wondering how i would hook it up and where to put it?

You might also want to consider a stock tach which can be swapped into your cluster. They can be found at junkyards or on ebay, although they can be hard to come by sometimes. There is a writeup on this website on how to perform the swap, it is very straight forward:

welcome to FTE

If you choose to go with the aftermarket.......there are many places to mount it. Before I decided to replace my cluster my favorite spot would have been an "A" pillar mount. Other places are on the steering column and mounted to the dash bezel......either on top or on the front right side.

Wiring is pretty simple......to the coil and a ground.....and picking up a 12v source for the light........then running the wires to your mounting spot....directions should tell you all that.

take a stroll through the picture gallery's......you'll see tach's mounted in various spots.
