When do these trucks start giving problems?

Does it usually happen at 150K+, 200K+ or just due to age? My truck only has 117K on it and it runs great. I hear about high pressure pumps and injectors going bad and a couple of other things that cause injectors from working properly, glow plugs ect. I wonder about taking the truck on trips sometimes. I don't to be stuck wrenching in the middle of nowhere.

They start giving people problems when they start neglecting the maintenance. You should be able to go 250000 miles on the original injectors if you keep up on the oil changes. You may get less though when you catch PMS.

GIVING PROBLEMS! NEVER! Shame on you for thinking that. They just need the occasional upgrade or modification.

Seriously though I don't think you can really put a number to any of it. There's guys here with over 300,000 that claim they haven't had anything serious go wrong. They probably never miss a fluid or filter change either.
O-rings seem to be a common problem with high mileage. Injectors, IDM, turbo pedestal and various other parts(don't forget the CCV) will eventually need orings. I kind of have a thing about orings though. When somebody posts about a bad oring that I haven't dealt with yet I usually have to replace mine too.

I meant to say that you may not get 250000 miles on your injectors when you catch PMS because you may want to get larger injectors.

these truck previously were bulletproof, but ever since we switched over to ULSD i have been replacing one by one all of my fuel system pieces....first the pump went, i didnt have a chance to fix that before the hoses all started weepinig, then an injector. all of these within the first 3 months of the big changeover from LSD.
other than that, just a starter, alternator, and vac. pump. i am currently at 180,000 miles.

I bought my truck at 236 K. a year ago next week. the only thing I had to fix so far was a stuck e- brake cable & a rear wheel seal. It just keeps going.
