Best way to help reduce the rocking, providing your shocks are not in bad shapre, would be to add a rear anti-sway bar. Hellwig or OEM whatever the best $$ deal you can get.
If it keeps rocking long after the bump then you need to look into new shocks. If yours are bad just about any shock will be better. There are many choices out there. I happen to link Ranchos and other shocks that are adjustable but that's just a part of my personality. There are good shocks that aren't adjustable.
Just installed REAR HELLWIG. No more rock and roll. Best deal I found was JC WHITNEY with FREE SHIPPING. Don't know if they are still offering the free shipping. Monsta said it all. Good shocks and rear sway bar....YOU'RE DONE!
I put Bilstien shocks on first. The shocks were about $80 each. Best shock I have ever put on a truck. The ride is a little bit stiffer then OEM but the X stays on the road and tows great. Then I changed the 24mm sway bar that came on the X to the SD 30mm sway bar. Bar cost me about $60 from Ford and takes about 30 minutes to install. Required hardware came with it. Be sure to ask for the 30 mm bar for a SD not an X. It is not listed as an X part.

Boy, did I screw-up on buying that mod. 30mm SD bar is probably made by HELLWIG! Just when you think you searched enough...... Go with the SD FORD bar advice. Sorry, but regardless of where you get a sway bar it should take of the rock and roll.
Speaking of FORD parts. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to get a FORD PARTS DVD. Not a repair DVD, but the DVD that the parts counter guys use. THANKS.

I have a stock rear sway bar that came off my '03 4X4 - I cant remember exactly, if the 2WD X's came with a rear sway or not... If not, I have one available if you pay the shipping.
As for shocks, Bilstein definitely help. I found the biggest offender were the tires I had on mine... They were very stiff "E" load Firestones... Replaced them with Michelin "D" load and the rocking is gone, but no doubt the Helwig and Blisteins dont hurt.
DSMMH are you talking about the rear or the front bar?
$60 certainly isn't retail.
Rear bar. If you do a search I believe you will find the Ford part # for the 30mm bar. The 30mm bar is listed in the F-250 parts section at the dealers. It has been discussed at length on the site before.
$60 is wholesale (20% off). That is for the bar only. It comes with 2 new rubber mounts where it attaches to the rear. I used the existing 24mm frame hardware. The bars are identical except, obviously, the 30mm is thicker.
There were two tow packages available. One was a standard package (probably for 2WD) that included receiver, wire harness and something else and the other was for 4WD/SD that included a sway bar (24mm), tow mirrors and, again, something else I do not remember. If your X has the 4WD/SD tow package, you have the 24mm rear sway bar.
As for tires, I got rid of the BFGs and got "E" Michelins.

Will it work on my 2000 2wd EX? I'll pay the shipping if it'll work. Thanks!
Where did you get your Bilsteins from and which ones should I get.
I dont know if it would fit or not. If memory serves me correctly, the 2WD Excursions did not come with a rear sway. But I could be wrong. Someone else will have to advise you on this one.
The Bilsteins came from www.eshocks.com - I put new ones on front and back as soon as I bought the truck. They really made the truck drive and handle better than new.

I only see them for 4WD not for the 2WD. Can they still work?
