So I took my truck ('03 F-350 6.0L) into my preferred Ford dealer for an oil change and I asked them to repair a weird klunking sound that seemed to be coming from the front end whenever I hit a bump. I noticed it a few weeks ago and from what I read on previous posts, I thought maybe it could be the cab mount bushings or the spring bushings. They ended up keeping the truck overnight and when I called in this morning I was told that the tech had it on the hoist twice because he could hear it too, but everything underneath was good. He finally drove it down a back alley with the windows down so he could hear exactly where it was coming from, turns out it was the fifth wheel hitch in the back rattling a bit on the bumps. Now I'm feeling pretty foolish, but at least I know the truck is 100% for my trip into B.C. with the 5th wheel next week.
Yeah, I think we all feel foolish once in a while. At least your truck is good to go. Good mechanics are really hard to find. Sounds like you have one.
