I have 2007 6.0 with 4500k on it and I plan on purchasing a Dieselsite Coolant Filtration system. I was wondering how everyone that had installed one was satisfied with it and if the install was pretty straight forward? Also is anyone running the RMI-25 Cooling system treatment they have on their website? Wondering if it was worth adding or not. I plan on doing the cooling filter upgrade and buying a Xcal2 from Matt at Spartan Diesel in the next few weeks and I will be content for a while. Thanks for any opions/advice.
i cant speak for the diesel site system but i have a napa kit on mine which is universal. both are nice system one half the price...but you can use ANY coolant filter with 11/16-16 thread which most of the ones i found are..Napa(wix made) sells them which can be bought locally.
I have the dieselsite filter at well. It's easy to put on. I don't do a lot to my truck as far as mods, it was straight forward enough. I did take apart the first 2 filters, and I'm glad I put it on. I'm on my 4th one now.
I have the dieselsite also. I can't remember if its 3/4" heater hose, but if you take a small section of it when you install the pressure side of the filter you can pull the heater line off the heater valve, and this keeps you from cutting into your factory lines, so if you want to take it off later you can.
Took me an hour I think to do. Drain some coolant first so you don't get alot of flow out of the lines you are splicing into.
I too have the Dieselsite system, it was easy to install. You tap into the heater hose with a tee fitting and run a line to the filter housing, which mounts to the passenger side of the radiator/intercooler. The filter outlet runs over and tees into the small line from the radiator to the overflow tank. The filter is a spin on cartridge type, similar in appearance to an oil filter for a car. Watch where you tap into the truck's systems, to prevent the hose clamps from rubbing on things like the radiator hose or any wiring harnesses.

I wouldn't say any as there are the PreCharged ones and the Non-charged ones and we only use the Non-charged ones these days.
Beach.. I wish I could see what you got.. I changed my filter after 500 miles.. It had some microscopic material but that was it.. Nothing hardcore like you fished out.. Dunno.. I'm hoping to see more on the next change after 1500 miles to see if this is going to help.. I imagine long term it will.. How many miles did you have on your truck when you put it in? I'm wondering if age had some play in it.. Since mine is pretty low mileage.. (Somewhat)..
In my research and discussions with people, I have found nothing better than the Ford Premium Gold coolant that is used in the 6.0L motor.
The key is to look for the proper certifications/requirements, as all gold coolants are not the same. The key is using distilled water, and in my case a Dieselsite brand coolant filter.
I for one, flushed my factory fill (and installed the coolant filter at 50,000 miles). I will do so again in the next month at about 105,000 miles or so.
I buy my coolant from the dealer and it cost me about $10.00/gallon and used about 15 gallons of distilled water to flush (multiple times) and refill my cooling system.
No SCA's are needed and no fancy coolants are needed... just a coolant that is factory spec'd and for "over-kill" a coolant filter (pics of what it takes out are in my gallery)... and distilled water.

Storm.... let it go for longer mileage intervals.
I installed at or around 50,000 miles after flushing my system with distilled water 4 times!!! What happens is that with each heat-up and cool-down and highway driving... the sand particles work loose from the block and circulate. Keep in mind that this is a by-pass system, so at any one time, your only filtering 5% or so of the coolant... so in 1,500 miles or so, you did not really filter out much.
As well, a lot of the "crud" settles into the low spots of the motor and cooling system (even the bottom of the degas bottle)... and it takes some time to loosen it up and filter it out.
Who knows, maybe your system due to prior servicing is just in better shape? Maybe Int'l is cleaning the blocks better before assembly?
i have so much junk on the bottom of my de-gas bottle the whole bottom is covered i have like 1,500 miles since i put my system on but i dont do much highway driving....so still waiting for it to clog up.
